Ok, so we all know that taxes are complicated, but in New York State for New York vendors online, sales tax is REALLY complicated. To make a long story short, if we're shipping an item within New York, we have to charge the local sales tax. But every locality has a different sales tax....

So, if you are having an item shipped anywhere within New York State, you'll see an %8.875 sales tax added to your purchase (that's the sales tax for New York City). If you live in a community that has a lower rate (anywhere outside of New York City), we'll check the rate before we ship, and refund you the difference. Since we're not robots, and we do all of these things ourselves, we can do that.

We know this is a cumbersome way of handling it, and thank you for your patience! We're a small shop and just figuring it all out. 

Oh, and if we are shipping items to you anywhere OUTSIDE of New York State, then you don't have to worry about any of this. We won't charge you sales tax at all.
